Dante

Dante is a beautiful boxer boy who attracts attention wherever he goes. Sadly he spent his life living in squalor in a puppy mill, and when they had no more use for him due to his getting older, they were going to just throw him out like and old pair of shoes. Luckily BRQ heard about him and got him outta there! He is sweet, funny and highly trainable. Like many puppy mill rescues, Dante has some insecurities he will need to work through with his future adoptive family but once he is introduced to a regular daily routine, fun activities like training or walking, and a whole lot of lovin', everything will fall into place! Dante should be either an only dog or enjoy the company of a submissive female.

New update from Dante's foster mom! (Nov, 2009): Dante is a silly boxer boy who sure knows how to relax!! I'm always finding him sleeping in funny positions like with his head smooshed up against his crate door or with his head hanging off his bed :) He's such a joy, and sometimes I feel like when he looks at me I can see how much he appreciates the love and attention he gets.
He's super social and wants to meet everyone he sees, and everyone seems to love him right back! One of my friends has dubbed him "kidney bean" because when he's excited to see her or when he's about to go for a walk, it seems like he's in a permanent kidney bean shape! He loves being petted and getting belly rubs, and he loves doing his "boxer burn" where he sprints for 5 minutes in all directions like a crazy dog! It's the cutest thing :) He also loves his rawhide chews and sometimes goes into his crate as if to say "mommy, can I have another?" He's super obedient and all I need to do to get him to go in his crate now is tap the top of the crate and he goes :)

His wonderful foster mom reports the following:

"Dante has that typical sweet boxer face and has the biggest smile when he's excited. He's learned that putting shoes on means he's going out, so he jumps up and down and kidney beans whenever I put on my shoes. He's wonderful on leash, but can be uncomfortable and anxious around other male dogs. He is a good eater, but he definitely thrives on schedule. As far as crating goes, I started getting him comfortable with going in his crate when I leave the house. So far he's fine in the crate, but as soon as he sees you walk in the door he practically knocks the crate over with excitement!"

"He seems pretty uninterested in playing with toys, and he still can't figure out the kong!! It's quite funny to watch him trying to chase it and trying to lick the filling out but never actually grabbing it or chewing it. Dante now knows how to sit, lie down, and stay :) He is also a loud snorer LOL Dante is an absolute joy and eager to please, and he deserves the absolute best loving home!"
